Mobile World Congress

Harbour Front provided both project management and software development services. The highly respected design firm Ocean Observations carried out the design work and usability testing.

Harbour Front has developed three separate applications for the Swedish media company: one for iPhone , one for iPad, and one for Android.

Yuki Eats New York is a New York restaurant guide for iPhone built around sharing the unique culinary experiences and secret spots favored by Yuki Matsuo, a prop stylist, writer, and designer whose passion for food has earned her a cult following.

It is not your typical New York restaurant guide, Yuki Eats New York aims to uncover some of the authentic restaurant hideouts in the city, for both native New Yorkers and tourists alike. Yuki Eats New York focuses on the food stands, cantinas, and unmarked dumpling and noodle restaurants that contribute to the vibrant and diverse energy of New York City, all presented through Yuki’s unique narrative.

The application is developed by Harbour Front together with Ocean Observations design. The overall visual design that compliments Yuki’s unique voice by using loose, off-beat illustrations gives the application a very personal, handmade, sketchbook-type feel.

Download the app now to start eating your way through New York with Yuki and get tips on the most authentic (and often hidden) spots in the city.

Application features include adding or importing guests from contacts in your iPhone/iPad or from your Facebook account or just create a guest list in the app. It is easy to creating a variety of tables placing them and exporting the final seating plan to text format or PDF.

The application is designed and structured by GoBee Labs and developed by Harbour Front.

Harbour Front was commissioned by the company to develop an application that allows customers to track their packages in real time. Previously customers have only been able to track deliveries on the web or by phone. The Iphone version now also adds a convenient feature by displaying pick-up points on a map, and details about opening hours at outlets.

The company believes the application will help them move closer to their customers and increase the benefits and availability of their services.

Harbour Front is specialised in developing solutions for mobile Internet, mobile applications and business strategies for smartphones and tablets like Ipad focusing on Iphone and Android development. Harbour Front develops applications within the media and the telecom industry where high technical knowledge and requirements for business strategies is a must.

The idea was to develop a simple app that demonstrated the integration between an XML server and a map to create a convenient service. The app became highly popular 2010-2011 and was top 20 listed of downloaded apps for several months. An inspiration for Systembolaget app.

Security that impacts the internet and various scenarios were discussed for how the internet of the future could look. Lynn St Amour, from Internet Society, reported on a rise in the number of countries that block DNSs, i.e. 44 countries now block websites compared with four a few years ago. Bruce Schneier, from BT Counterpane, naturally focused on security issues and talked here about a list of different players who use openings to access various systems. This in turn leads to tougher security solutions.

Harbour Front visited the conference on 21 November at the Waterfront Congress Centre in Stockholm. During the conference we studied trends for mobile services, and the most interesting presentation for us was the session about web vs apps. The continued trend is that businesses see mobile websites as a hygiene factor and apps as a way to position themselves and to show that they also have a presence on this platform.

A slight trend is discernable whereby some players have begun to optimise their websites. This is seen in changes that enable mobile services, which Eva Hamilton says is the fastest growing platform at SVT, and through corporate discussions about website optimisation.

Harbour Front attended Communicasia, 21-24 June in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, 2011. We examined trends and business models in mobile marketing & advertising and presented our latest work in mobile applications.

Our aim was to share ideas and meet up with current customers.

We brought our latest work in mobile promotion apps, operator services and Video on Demand.

The SDK consists of a library that will help developers that make apps which use the Widespace ad engine to show state of the art ads in their application.

Harbour Front develops applications for the Iphone, Ipad and Android platforms and works with clients in media, broadcasting and telecom to name a few. During the past year Harbour Front has been working with projects in social media, VOD (Video on Demand) and many more. Currently we are developing prototypes for Vodafone as well as other exciting services for a leading operator in Denmark and Sweden.

The aim of the mobile site was to introduce all of Sony Ericsson’s products in a good way but also to show that Sony Ericsson is leading and driving the mobile internet market.

The project took place during the summer of 2007.
